I finished the first series of Downton and ahhhh feelings! But I didn’t want another fandom to write in so I… wrote a K/B AU vaguely related to my time-period feelings. I’m clearly in the middle of making myself finish the first family!AU, so this probably won’t be a thing except for in my brain. 

Anyway, for anyone interested: ~1300 words of new-valet!Blaine and Lord Kurt. *chinhands*

“That’s the bell,” Blaine says, grateful to have a reason to escape Santana’s attention at the table. Scrutiny, more like.

He steps out from the kitchen and toward the stairs, taking a moment to lean against the wall and breathe in. He’d shadowed William Schuester, the young Lord Hummel’s previous valet the day before, expecting to do so for at least the next week. William Schuester, however, had other ideas — he had left during the night, leaving the duties to either fall on the elder Lord Hummel’s valet in double or to Blaine to step into position right away.

Blaine had worked as a footman in his last house after his father, a small countryman lawyer had fallen ill. The house Blaine learned and worked in was quite small, enough so that his duties were broad enough and he was competent enough at them to earn himself a glowing recommendation from the small lord to this position with the Hummels.

Quinn, who Blaine was almost entirely certain was the lady-ward Berry’s lady maid, (though he’d spent last night getting most of the household staff mixed up), catches him leaning against the wall and narrows her eyes at him before tipping her head back to laugh.
